“It is not the Church that has a mission for God, but it is God who has a Church for His mission.” —Pastor Gilbert Foliente
Three weeks have passed since 151 single professionals representing the areas of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela gathered together for three days in Camp John Hay in Baguio, to be equipped and empowered with one heart and one mission — to be ministers of the Gospel to our workplace, community and to the world.
Even few weeks before the 3-day camp, everyone was already pumped up in preparation for the team building activities. The level of competitiveness was at its peak. But more than the loud cheers, laughter and high-spirited camaraderie, it was when we sat down and put on our student’s hat that we learned and got reminded of the true message, the real purpose why and how to be ALL IN with the mission God entrusted us to accomplish – having the same heart that beats for the lost and the readiness in advancing God’s kingdom anywhere we go.
While each participant encountered God’s grace and love during the camp, here are two stories we would like to share to encourage everyone in the singles community to boldly proclaim the good news in whatever season you are in right now.
ALL IN, WITHOUT FEAR
Both self-confessed introverts, Mabs and Tin had fear in interacting with other singles, but God slowly removed the walls and barriers and eventually immersed themselves with the team and got to participate in all the games with so much enthusiasm. They did not only enjoy the activities, but also the fellowship among other believers. Knowing that they are not running the race alone is a great encouragement not only for Mabs and Tin but also for all the participants. Indeed, seeing unity in action within the church community made us feel unafraid to fulfill God’s mission.”
ALL IN: WHENEVER, WHEREVER
Myra, a Flight Stewardess based in Qatar for 12 years and counting, almost didn’t make it to the camp, but because of God’s favor, one slot was opened. She immediately filed a vacation leave and flew 6,662 miles from her Manchester flighty duty straight to Manila, then Baguio.
“I almost gave up in my discipleship here in Qatar but just like Paul, though I’m the least deserving, least qualified, God allowed me to join the camp and empowered me to preach the good news whenever or wherever I go. Jet lags, busy roster nor distance can stop me from doing what God has called me to do.” After the camp, Myra did not just gain new friends, but also confidence and security in Christ.
There is no denying that this camp has definitely energized each and every participant to go and do what God has called us to do. God’s heart for the lost is so strong that He made us all ministers. With this, we are now empowered more than ever to fulfill God’s mission with one heart.
If you are a single professional and you want to be mightily used by God in whatever season you are in, come and join us for the next Singles’ events! We look forward to seeing you there!
