During this period of enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila, there are things that we can do in order to still be productive.
- Develop intimacy with God. Our connection to God helps us hear Him. What is he saying to us in this time of crisis? Our calmness depends on our inner assurance that God is in full control.
- Intensify prayers. Pray for the salvation of our loved ones: that God will open their hearts for the gospel. Pray for the leaders of our government and all industries for wisdom to lead and govern our nation; pray for and help our front-liners, doctors, nurses, police and military, and every Juan. Lastly, pray for our food suppliers and distributors and those who risk their lives in serving the people in this calamity.
- Do God’s mission. Maximize this time to bring the gospel to the nations and spread the good news that is needed more than anything else. We have the greatest answer to the hopelessness of this world: the Good News of the Gospel. We can also continue discipling people online. No one and nothing can stop the advancement of God’s kingdom. His name will be proclaimed all the more. With all the voices coming from the bad news around us, the Good News of the Gospel needs to be heard even louder.
Romans 1:16-17 ESV “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.””
We might feel inadequate, limited, or restricted, but as a people of God, we can do these together: be more intimate with God, intensify our prayers, and be intentional for His mission. After doing these, let us leave it all to God who remains sovereign and in control over all.
